How can you help your favourite artist?

In incredibly serious times like those we are currently facing, it is important to stick together and do your bit for the community. Countries around the world are facing big challenges, the likes of which we may not have seen since World War Two. The general public are feeling the full wrath of the virus, including the electronic music community.

On government advice, clubs have closed around the world – leaving a trail of despair as promoters, sound engineers and bar staff to name a few are laid off due to the virus. The scene is in danger, and needs the help of dance music lovers like yourselves to ensure it can come bounce back from this unexpected complication. Here are some tips to ensure the longevity of something so close to our hearts:

1. Buy merchandise

Be it a tee, a tote or a lighter; represent your favourite brands. Supporting promoters/DJs/labels by repping their name puts money into their pockets and increases awareness.

2. Share music

Whether it be word-of-mouth or sharing online, let people know what you’re listening to. You’ll be surprised at the influence you have on others around you: SHARING IS CARING!

3. Watch live streams

As you may have noticed, labels are turning to live streams in order to give you the club experience, even if you are only two-stepping around your bedroom. Defected hosted their own virtual festival last week, which I’m sure brought out many tennis shorts and sparkly skirts in all four corners of the world.
